Works and Services Department in collaboration with PPP Unit launched 'Hyderabad Mirpurkhas Dual Carriageway Project' the first indigenously structured PPP Project in Pakistan. The 60 km dual carriageway was successfully developed connecting the two major cities of the province Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas with the objective to facilitate growth and efficiency for the province. The Project length is 60 km and also consist 8 bridges and 62 culverts. The Project cost was fixed at Rs 5.1 Billion and the Project includes 30 years of operations and maintenance after construction. After 30 years the possession of the road will be returned to Government of Sindh. The Request for Proposal was issued on 5th December, 2016. After comprehensive bidding process the Concession Agreement for the Project was signed on 11 November, 2009. The construction of the Project was completed by September, 2012.
BOT Debt:Equity = 70:30
1. This project is estimated to have created 5000 direct job opportunities and 22,000 indirect job opportunities
2. The Project also complemented regional agribusiness and other commercial activities. Project also contributed towards swift communication between Karachi (commercial hub of the country) and Thar Coal fields.
